Welcome to the Kazickas Residence!

About Us

The Kazickas Residence is located in St. John's Street, in the very heart of the old town, in the courtyard of the palace of the most famous noblemen of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the Radvilas. It is just a few steps away from Castle Street, with its many charming cafés, restaurants and souvenir shops, and is close to the Church of St. John, the palaces of Lithuania's Grand Dukes and the impressive architectural ensembles of Vilnius University, Chodkevičius and Pacas Palaces.

The restoration of the house, bought by Dr Kazickas in 1999, has started. Having been actively involved in Lithuanian public life and familiarised himself with the rich heritage of 19th-century Lithuanian city residences, he decided to furnish his residence in Vilnius in the cultural spirit of the Lithuanian noblemen's palaces typical of the Old Town.

The architects' interior design project was based on the analogies of the interiors of Lithuanian city residences and manor houses, as well as on the eclectic style of building decoration of the time.

The rooms were decorated by Claudia Ruger, the renowned interior designer of American residential palaces, and the beautiful courtyard was designed by Rasa Arbas, a famous expatriate architect from California, who is renowned for her original design of sumptuous artistic gardens in small spaces.

When he bought the building, Dr Kazickas already knew that it would be a gift to his beloved wife Alexandra on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary. In his book "The Way of Hope", he wrote that this place evoked many memories for him, as they had studied at the nearby Vilnius University, and it was not far from the residence he had bought, many years ago, that he had first proposed to Alexandra on Christmas Day. So it seemed very symbolic to go back to those times after six decades together... And the reconstruction of the residence was completed just in time for their 60th wedding anniversary on 15 August 2001.

Dr Kazickas' children and grandchildren live in the United States and only come and stay at the residence a few times a year. The family has therefore decided to open the doors of this elegant residence to the general public, with the possibility of renting it out for various events.
